Mastering Audio, Droning On…

It’s been a busy few months at Wild Dog & we have had our paws on various projects. First up was the annual Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival whihc was back & in full swing again after a bit of a COVID lie down. Alongside our usual highlights film, this year we packaged up daily presentations from some of the festivals star authors for ‘as live’ broadcast on the festivals YouTube & Vimeo channels. Since then […]

Learning Avidly…

Sooner or later, it was going to happen. A client would start asking if we could cut on Avid Media Composer. Well the answer is ‘yes’ – almost… As with any piece of software there is a learning curve, but with Avid it seems steeper than most at first. The biggest issue is transitioning back from FCPX which is all drag and drop, swooshing about & cutting like the wind, to a more formal track […]

Family Planning & Covid in Africa

Over the past 6 months we have been lucky enough to have been running the audio dubbing & post production on a series of short animated films for DMI. In January 2021, we started the audio dubbing on a series of short dramas about family planning, shot in Kenya by Kabinda Pictures. Most recently we have delivered a short film about wearing facemasks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 for TV networks in Uganda. DMI […]

Loneliness in Exeter

We were very fortunate to be asked by Westbank, a charity based in Exmouth to produce a short film about loneliness in Exeter. The Westbank project, 100 Working Together aims to raise awareness about loneliness in the community and encourage 100 of Exeter’s businesses to contribute to a fund to support the project. Westbank hopes to provide services and support for those people suffering from loneliness, whatever their situation. Directed by Zoe Clough and presented […]

Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival 2021 promo

Here’s another short film for the Budleigh Salterton Literary festival. This short film tells the story of how 2020’s event, stopped in its track by the COVID pandemic forced the committee to think on their feet and produce a hybrid event that saw talks delivered both on line and in certain cases to limited audiences. We produced the live streaming events in Budleigh and also shot a couple of author profile pieces with Graham Hurley […]

In the shit for Deutsche Welle

We had a lot of fun filming ‘quite literally’ in the cow shit for German network Deutsche Welle in Hampshire. The story for Euro Max with producer Max Modler was about musician Cosmo Sheldrake who records sounds from the natural world and then plays the music back in remote locaitons – in this case on the top of Martin’s Down. Our pal, sound recordist (and fellow SAB Network crew member) Rob Kingsbury was waggling the […]

Live Streaming from Bud Lit Fest 2020 (almost)

Another year and another Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival – but this time with a twist. The festival this year has gone online because of the COVID pandemic and it has meant that we were called into do some rather different work from usual. Our normal festival highlight package was obviously a non starter and in stead we shot a couple of author profiles with food writer Mark Diacono and novelist Graham Hurley as well as […]

Coronavirus Lockdown

Like many small businesses across the South West, Wild Dog is in #lockdown following the outbreak of Coronavirus. In late February we travelled to Chamonix in France for some interviews for a feature documentary we are working on, but we had to cancel a visit to Northern Italy where the virus had already taken hold. The last film that we shot and cut for BBC Inside Out before the UK government’s lock down was announced […]

Fake plant saves the day

This month, we have been working on a new film for the NHS in East Devon about wellbeing and adult social care. The content was obviously very interesting, but by contrast the NHS meeting rooms we were filming interviews in were very dull. Worried by the lack of anything to dress the background, director Zoe Clough suggested we order a fake plant to pimp the background. With the addition a few fairy lights (we were […]
